The Opposition

Here is a run down of the teams the Hemel Stags II's will be facing this season:

Farnborough Falcons

Sport at Farnborough has a strong and illustrious history based upon Rugby Union success. Farnborough Falcons RL celebrate their first full season in senior competition and have already grown into a popular club in both Rushmoor Borough and Hampshire County.

Farnborough Falcons were founded in 2006 by some of the Union players from Farnborough Rugby Club. A large increment of players followed their first match in October 2006. The Club completed its inital entry into the London Youth League, finishing third. The Falcons success prompted a move to the Southern Conference League for the following season.

The coming 2008 season sees the Falcons aspirations grow still further with entry into the Premier League where they will surely face the stiffest competition of their brief history. The formation of an U13/14 Youth side and their entry into the London Merit league will start the succession process, and bring in new players.

The Club has a close link with professional club Harlequins RL, the South's only Super league side. There are also associations with the Celtic Nations, having had three players named for representation in the National sides of Ireland and Wales

West London Sharks

This West London club was one of the founding nine teams of the pilot Summer Conference competition in 1997. Proposed as a merger between two established London ARL clubs, Brent Ealing and the London Colonials, West London effectively a new entity from the start. The club became the Sharks for the renamed Rugby League Conference in 1998 and the London Broncos briefly ran the club as their ‘alliance’ team. Their aim is to guarantee a game to all players of all standards. The Sharks are now entering into the fifth season at Grasshoppers RFC. Their player base is an eclectic mix of southerners, northern exiles, SRL players, union converts and southern hemisphere players.

St Albans Centurions

St Albans Centurions is a progressive, successful and friendly rugby league club, based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. A community-based Club, they have two Open Age teams, three junior sides and a growing presence in the development of rugby league in local schools and youth clubs.

Hainault Bulldogs

Hainault Bulldogs were formed in 2007 and surpassed their wildest dreams within their inaugural season. The regular season saw the bulldogs beat all comers within the london league & narrowly lost to an exceptional Met Police side in a friendly. Local interest has been exceptional with crowds in excess of 200 people at some games and full page write ups in the local recorder newspaper, read all over East London & Essex. 2008 will see the Bulldogs form two teams, with the first team in the Rugby League Conference & our development team in the successful London Amateur Rugby League.

London Griffins RLFC

London Griffins are committed to the development of the sport of Rugby League within the borough of Richmond Upon Thames. The club works closely in partnership with Harlequins RL and our main sponsors Urban Academy to promote the game at all levels.
London Griffins were formed in March 2005 as the supporters team of London Broncos and are now a fully fledged club. The club was formed as a social team to play against other such supporters teams.

For 2008, the London Griffins announced that they will be competing as the official supporter's team of the engage Super League club.

As well as carrying the famous jester logo on their playing kit, the Griffins will play home games at Richmond College as part of the Harlequins RL match day experience
