Hemel Hempstead Rugby League club presented with Clubmark Gold Status

Sport England, (along with The Rugby Football League and the County Sports Partnerships) is seeking to assist in the development of standards of clubs working with children and young people. The objective is to develop clubs that are accredited as: The sign of a quality Club, Committed to providing a safe, effective and child-friendly environment.

Sport England Clubmark sets generic criteria for national governing bodies of sport to accredit their clubs against. The RFL have in turn been responsible for developing and setting sports specific standards and accrediting clubs against the national framework.

The RFL has now introduced a further enhanced level of accreditation to enable clubs to grow and enhance their provision and be recognised by the RFL as a focus club, this would bring enhanced benefits that would help the club to grow and sustain all activities and be supported by the RFL as the Governing body of Rugby League.

Level 1: Clubmark Status

Level 2: Clubmark Gold Status

The RFL will be working now with existing Clubmark clubs to move them on the new accreditation levels with the aspiration to eventually have all rugby league clubs attaining the Clubmark Gold Status.

Rugby League clubs that gain Clubmark Gold Status accreditation will receive recognition and promotion by Sport England, The RFL, County Sports Partnerships and Local Authorities.

Clubmark will bring benefits such as promoting clubs within their communities, increased participation levels, developing coaches and volunteers at clubs, raising standards thus creating a quality environment for all involved and increased opportunity in terms of accessing resources through the RFL.

The award was accepted on behalf of the club by Bob Brown and Ernie Howell of Hemel Stags, the award was presented by Robbie Marr of London RL.
